Notes for Sibyl Leann Parrish | Leann met Guido at Texas A&I, where she attended summer classes. They were married in 1948, and moved to Victoria, where Guido worked in the oil fields. Their first child, Marty, was born in Kansas, where Guido had been transferred. Leann's second baby, a son, died at birth and was buried in Hondo. Leann's second baby, a son, died at birth and was buried in Hondo. Leanne did not enjoy living “out in the sticks,” as she put it. Three more children were born in Bay City, Texas. The family considered Houston “home.” Leanne and Guido enjoyed bridge and camping, touring much of the U.S. with their pop-up trailer. Leanne liked to point out that Guido’s WW II ship, the USS Altoona, ferried MacArthur’s limosine to the Philippines. Leann died of cancer in 1996. |
