Notes for Mimmi Doyle Schweers | Mimmi Doyle was born June 6, 1923 in Hondo, Texas. During World War II, she was the first female instrument mechanic at the Air Base in Hondo. She met Beard at a dance at Quihi. The couple married on September 6, 1944 and settled in Hondo, where they raised their three boys. They enjoyed camping and dancing, and became square dance teachers. After Mimmi's father's stroke in 1972, her parents moved to the house next door. For the next 20 years, Mimmi Doyle was a faithful companion and caregiver for both her father and mother. She became interested in family history, and collected a wealth of information about the lives and genealogies of her ancestors. Mimmi and Beard also enjoyed taking trips in their camper/trailer. In 2000, they toured the Black Hills, which she had always wanted to see, returning via Colorado. Mimmi died of cancer in 2002. |
