| Eleonore and her husband staked out a homestead on Rabbs Creek in 1854. Her family helped them clear the virgin forest for farmland. When John was conscripted into the Confederate Army, Eleanore's mother lived with her and her small children on the Renker farm, and remained there until Eleanore's remarriage in 1866. |
