Notes for Carl Emil Wiederaenders | Emil was exempted from conscription into the Confederate Army because he was a schoolteacher in one of Pastor Neudhardt's congregations in Round Top. After the Civil War he went to Iowa to finish his studies at Wartburg Theological Seminary. His first congregation was in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin (1868 - 1872). He later served churches in Jubilee, Iowa, Scotland, South Dakota, and Gothenburg, Nebraska. During his pastorate in Prairie du Chien, Emil confirmed all five of the famous Ringling brothers. |
