Notes for Minna Wiederanders
When Minnie was small, other children teased her about her “coffee bean” complexion. One day her mother (Louise) was bleaching flour sacks by repeatedly sprinkling them with water and spreading them out in the sun. Louise explained to Minnie what she was doing. On the next trip out to the yard she found her little daughter lying face up beside the flour sacks with a pan of water beside her, busily splashing water on her face. Minnie studied music at the Music Academy in Chicago. Later she took a business course, and worked as a secretary until her marriage to Fred.
