Notes for Magdalene Wiederanders | When Lene was three years old, she contracted menningitis and was desperately ill for several days. She never fully regained her sunny spirit. She suffered from severe headaches and found memorization difficult. She did most of the sewing for the family. Lene was confirmed April 11, 1897, in Grand Island, Nebraska. She and Bruno Ropte (who was a cousin of Ottie’s husband and brother of Ed’s wife) spent their married life farming. They moved to Coleridge, Nebraska, when they retired. |
