This Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railway engine was manufactured in 1882 in Schenectady. The rest of the cars were probably built and fitted out at the shop in Prairie du Chien where Edward worked. The train shown here is ready to leave for Milwaukee. The conductor is on the ground by the engine, the engineer is in the cab window, and the fireman in in the gangway. Wisconsin Historical Society.
