Col. John H. Moore’s twin blockhouse, a cabin built of cedar logs in 1828, is known as the oldest existing structure in Fayette County. Rifle portholes were placed in the walls for purposes of fortification. The blockhouse was moved to Round Top from its original location in nearby La Grange.
