Hermann Seele came to New Braunfels in May 1845 with his friend Heinrich Herbst. He was the town schoolteacher as well as the unofficial assistant to the pastor in the early days. A writer and lawyer, Seele later served as mayor of New Braunfels. His personal diary contains several 1844 references to Wilhelm Reuter and a possible reference to Wilhelmine Tips Heusinger in 1853.
